New Democrat Julian Heller chosen as candidate for St Paul’s

August 24, 2009

ST. PAUL’S (ON), Aug. 24 - A by-election on September 17 will give residents of St. Paul's an opportunity to send the McGuinty government a strong message about the kind of Ontario they want says New Democrat Candidate Julian Heller.

“A by-election might not change the government but it’s St Paul’s chance to send a message about the sort of community we want,” said Heller, after winning tonight's nomination meeting. “We need to see investment in our schools and transit – not an unfair sales tax grab that puts a new economic burden on people in our community. Together, we can send that message directly to Dalton McGuinty on September 17.”

Julian has lived in St. Paul's for over 25 years, and understands the needs and concerns of the community. A trial lawyer, he has been an active community leader working with other parents to fight cuts in our schools, and working with local ratepayers to fight development.

“Julian Heller has shown his leadership through his community involvement, passion and hard work,” said Andrea Horwath, Leader of Ontario’s New Democrats. “We need him at Queen's Park to stand up for the City of Toronto, to improve public transit, and protect homeowners and renters alike from the unfair Harmonized Sales Tax.”

The provincial by-election to fill the vacancy in St. Paul's will be held on September 17th. For more info visit: www.julianheller.ca
